The premier event for young jazz musicians – come and spend a week in Wellington learning from some of the best jazz educators in New Zealand and guest artist John Riley
The New Zealand Jazz Foundation provides exceptional musical experiences to young jazz musicians in New Zealand. The National Jazz Workshops bring New Zealand’s enthusiastic jazz students together with top jazz musicians and educators, working on instrument techniques, improvisation, theory, listening and ensemble performances.
Students 19 and under with at least one year of experience on an instrument, are eligible.
Faculty for 2018 will include: Dave Lisik (coordinator, theory, improvisation), Rodger Fox (trombone and big band), Nick Granville (guitar), Lance Philip (drums)

The NZ Jazz Workshops will be held at the New Zealand School of Music, Victoria University of Wellington.
ACCOMMODATION: students will be responsible for their own accommodation.
MEALS: Lunch for the five days will be available for purchase at several locations on campus. A group dinner will be provided by the Jazz Foundation on Friday.

REGISTRATION: Applications are being accepted immediately and will be accepted until all places are filled. Refunds for cancellations will be given until December 1, after which no refunds will be possible due to commitments for staffing/faculty at the Workshops.
