SUMMARY:Recording in a BYOD environment
DESCRIPTION:Sector: Secondary\nWhere: Nelson Centre for Musical Arts (Recital Theatre)\nCost: Free for MENZA members\, first year teachers and those currently enrolled in an education degree\, or $30 for non-members.\nREGISTER HERE. \nThis workshop will guide teachers through a BYOD friendly recording setup suitable for teachers and their students. Using online and free resources in conjunction with quality audio hardware\, this workshop will be hands-on and based in the context of your school. Links to NCEA and Production Tech Unit standards will be included. By the end of this workshop\, participants will have recorded a song from scratch and in doing so increase their confidence\, knowledge and ability. It is a goal of Martin’s\, that teachers would be able to record their own students the following day.  \n  \nMartin Emo has run workshops for Music Technology throughout Aotearoa / New Zealand/Australia and Online for MENZA\, the Ministry of Education\, NZQA and through his educational consultancy. He holds a Masters in Education based on effective professional development for Music teachers in using Music Technology. Martin is currently the Musicnet Facilitator for NZ and a Full-time PhD candidate \n

DESCRIPTION:Rockshop Bandquest is a platform for the next generation of contemporary musicians to step out and perform in a supportive and encouraging competition format\, with a focus on education\, inspiration\, and entertainment. \nRockshop Bandquest was founded in 2011 by Rockquest Promotions\, the company behind nationwide original music competitions Smokefreerockquest and Smokefree Tangata Beats. \nThe idea behind Rockshop Bandquest is to encourage Primary and Intermediate aged kids onto the stage\, teaching them performance skills and the importance of teamwork. \nWith 17 live events this year nationwide\, as well as an online contest for bands in outlying regions\, Rockshop Bandquest aims to provide a goal for young contemporary musicians to focus on\, offer incentives for them\, build their confidence\, provide them with inspiration from their peers and support Music staff\, highlighting the great work they do with their students.
