DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19 LOCKDOWN​\nAuckland workshops – March 27 and 28\, 2020\n\n​Musical Futures International returns to Auckland in March 2020 for a two day workshop at Long Bay College. \nTeachers will be able to choose from two 1 day options: \nIntroduction to Musical Futures (for all first time attendees) on Friday March 27 or\nFurther Into Musical Futures (for teachers who have attended Musical Futures workshops in the past) on Saturday\, March 28 \nTeachers can also combine the two workshops and join us for both days. \n\nWho is the workshop for?\n\n\n​Primary music specialists and primary classroom teachers with a background in music\,\nSecondary music teachers\nTertiary music educators\nTertiary students studying music or music education\nInstrumental teachers and practitioners​\n\n\nWhy attend?\n\nMusical Futures believes music learning works best when young people are making music\, and when their existing passion for music is reflected and built-upon in the classroom. Musical Futures was established in 2003 and grounded in academic research\, is based on the real-world practices of popular and community musicians. \nMusical Futures supports teachers around the world with training\, networks and resources to deliver practical\, engaging\, developmental music programs in the classroom. Currently more than 1.5 million students in 71 countries worldwide benefit from their teachers use of the Musical Futures approach. The widespread adoption of Musical Futures in the UK and Australia means that it is now one of the most successful and sustainable  music education initiatives in schools in those countries. \n\nThree workshop options\n\nIntroduction to Musical Futures   \nif you are new to Musical Futures you have a choice of two Introduction to Musical Futures workshops:  \nAttending an  Introduction to Musical Futures workshop is the  ideal way to start with informal learning and non-formal teaching plus the Just Play foundational resource along with some whole class workshopping.  The Intro to Musical Futures workshop is being held on Friday March 27th. \nFurther into Musical Futures \nIf you have attended a Musical Futures workshop in the past two years  then the Further Into Musical Futures workshop is your next step. The Further into Musical Futures workshop features all new units and resources and  takes place on Saturday March 28th  at Long Bay College. \nCombine the workshops \nTeachers have the option of combining both the Introduction and Further into Musical Futures on consecutive days (March 27 and 28th) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nMARCH 27 and 28\, 2020\nLONG BAY COLLEGE\nASHLEY AVENUE\nTORBAY\, AUCKLAND\n9.30am – 4.00pm each dayCOST:   $295 NZD for two days\n$195 NZD for each single day option \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nWhat’s on the program?​\n\n​Intro to Musical Futures \nThe Introduction to Musical Futures workshop includes all the units of work Musical Futures has become famous for and conenctrates on informal learning and non formal teaching.  The content includes: \n\nJust play – is a practical workshop plus a full easy-to-use resource for primary music specialists and secondary music teachers which explores the Just Play\, the skills-building Musical Futures approach.\nFind Your Voice – an inclusive approach for engaging students of all ages with singing through vocal work and the integration of mobile technology.\nGroove your classroom – models strategies for composing and improvising through classroom workshopping and shows how these can be delivered in practical ways that are both musical and theoretical\nThe Songwriting workshop explores inventive techniques for teaching contemporary songwriting and is supported by materials that engage students with fresh\, hands-on approaches\, opening them up to exciting possibilities for storytelling and music creation.\nInformal learning is a model of self-directed learning that aims to enhance student motivation\, enjoyment and skill-acquisition in music lessons by tapping into the real-life learning practices of popular musicians.
