SUMMARY:Cancelled - Kodály Aotearoa Professional Development
DESCRIPTION:Cancelled due to Covid’19 restrictions\nFor further information about the following events\, please contact Megan Flint – meganjude@xtra.co.nz\nKodály Music Education are working in conjunction with Project Prima Volta and the Cuskelly College of Music to run these courses in New Zealand.\nFor those of you who are looking at completing Primary 2\, Primary 3 and Secondary 2 courses (for credit or for audit) the dates are as follows:\n\n\nFriday 11 September and Saturday 12 September (Part 1 – to be held in Christchurch)\nfollowed by 2-10 October (Part 2 – to be held in Hawkes Bay).\n\n\nWe are implementing a new course structure in 2020 which Dr James Cuskelly and I believe will be a very successful model for New Zealand moving forward.  In Part 1 (2 days) you will come together\, go through all of the cultural materials repertoire\, be presented with the conducting materials\, choir materials and begin musicianship.  You will also make a start on the first lesson plans so that you are ready to begin practicum early in Part 2 of the course. This will give you a head start for preparing materials (e.g. sing and plays\, ensembles\, conducting etc) prior to the October course.  The October course will have four teaching days then one day off followed by another four teaching days – a total of nine days.\n\nIf you are enrolling for Primary 3 for credit (not audit)\, please remember that you will need to have your song file completed and ready for assessment from 2 October. More information to come in 2020.\n\nI am very excited that the Primary 3 course will be offered for the first in New Zealand! Thank you very much to those eligible participants who have been waiting a number of years for this to happen.\n\nWe will also be running a Primary 1 course in 2020 so if you have colleagues who you are keen to encourage\, the dates for that course are below.  There are two locations for Part 1 for those interested in Primary 1.\n\n\nSunday 13 / Monday 14 September Christchurch.  This two-day course will be offered as taster-days for those keen to find out more.  Those who are interested in continuing on to complete an accredited course would then also attend the 2-10 October course in Hawkes Bay.\nSaturday 6 June and Sunday 7 June – Auckland. This two-day course will be offered as taster-days for those keen to find out more.  Those who are interested in continuing on to complete an accredited course would then also attend the 2-10 October course in Hawkes Bay.

SUMMARY:ANZARME (Australian & New Zealand Association for Research In Music Education)
DESCRIPTION:As you are aware\, COVID-19 has had a dramatic impact and forced the cancellation of many face to face events. The ANZARME committee held off making a final decision on the viability of our 2020 Gold Coast Conference as long as possible\, and concluded that it is just not possible to proceed at this time. While we are disappointed that we cannot go ahead as originally planned\, we are excited to announce that we will be going ahead with ANZARME 2020 as an online event. \nThe online conference will run over October 3 – 4 (in line with original conference dates) and we are grateful to The University of Melbourne for their kind offer of hosting the online conference. Prospective participants are invited to submit abstracts now\, and successful presenters will then be invited to create a 15 – 20 video of their presentation for uploading into the conference platform at least 2 weeks prior to the event. Presentations will then be available for viewing by conference delegates from this time. The conference will then comprise a series of themed online sessions over the two days October 3 – 4. Details as follows: \nWhat to do \nIf you are interested in presenting\, the call for abstracts is now open. Abstracts up to 250 words must be registered and submitted via the ANZARME website https://anzarme.com.au/ before August 21. Abstracts will be double blind peer reviewed\, and successful presenters will be notified as soon as possible. This process complies with current conference arrangements \nOnce accepted\, presenters will be asked to create a 15 – 20 minute video of their presentation and upload it via the link on the ANZARME website. A slide template will be available for presenters on the ANZARME website\, and videos can be in any format. Technical help will be available through the website\, and presentations must be uploaded by September 17 at the latest. \nAll wishing to access the online conference will be asked to register through the ANZARME website\, whether presenting or not. We are pleased to announce that the cost of the conference will only be $50 for delegates\, and $25 for students. \nFurther details on the actual online format will be forthcoming soon. At the moment\, a lot of work is going on behind the scenes finalising the technical arrangements and I am grateful to ANZARME committee members Dr Emily Wilson\, Dr Brad Merrick\, Martin Emo and Associate Professor Annie Mitchell for their work at relatively short notice to get this event up and running. The website is currently being updated and should reflect the above within the next two weeks. \nImportantly\, ANZARME 2020 will be going ahead. Please make sure you submit your abstracts as soon as possible if you interested in presenting in this exciting new format. \nI am also pleased to announce that ANZARME 2021 is planned for the Gold Coast\, and ANZARME 2022 for Invercargill in New Zealand. \nThank you for your patience and understanding\, and we look forward to welcoming you to ANZARME 2020 online. \nBest wishes \nDr Geoffrey M Lowe \nPresident\, ANZARME \nSenior Lecturer in Music Education \nEdith Cowan University
