DESCRIPTION:The Drum Festival – 23-24 November\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHE DRUM FESTIVAL\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSamba\, Afro-Cuban\, African\, Gypsy Caravan\, Japanese and Balinese…come celebrate amazing cultural diversity at this unique two-day global drumming festival hosted at the Little River Campground and Manaia Native Habitat this weekend (23-24 November 2019).\nThe Drum Festival is the South Island’s only drum-focused festival showcasing African\, Indian\, Arabic\, Asian drum performances and workshops as well as a fusion of contemporary drumming.\nSet within a beautiful natural landscape of native flora and fauna in Okuti Valley on the Banks Peninsular\, this two-day festival offers world-renowned performers\, drumming sessions\, dance\, singing and percussion workshops\, and a regular highlight — the late-night jams around a riverside campfire!\nOvernight camping is also available which is perfect for those wishing to immerse themselves for a weekend of African beats and good vibes within lush native bush.\nBring the family and spend a day (or weekend) enjoying fantastic cultural music and international performers\, as well as exploring the lush natural habitat\, majestic birdlife and other onsite features (slippery slide\, tree swings\, bush walks etc) the campground has to offer.\nTickets are strictly limited so book now.\nADULT\n$25 – Day ticket\n$65 – Two day ticket + 1 night camping\nCHILD (over 10 years)\n$10 – Day ticket (under 10 years – free)\n$35 – Two day ticket + 1 night camping (under 10 years – $15)\nBOOK TICKETS NOW\n\n\n  \nSATURDAY PROGRAMME\n11am – Performance by Burnside High School and Ara percussion students \n\n12pm – Soul Star Tribe – Gypsy caravan style dance performance and workshop \n1pm – Rhythm workshop by Doug Brush \n1:45pm – Singing workshop by Magaui Stewart \n2:30pm – Justin DeHart\nUniversity of Canterbury Gamelan (Balinese instruments and music) \n3:15pm – Dununba African Dance workshop with live drumming with Ra McRostie \n4:45pm – Dekaworwor African drumming and dance with Magaui Stewart and Tamara Smith \n7:30pm – Jam session \n8pm – World music concert with Mundi \nSUNDAY PROGRAMME\n9:30am- Dan Callahan and Doug Brush perform on one-of-a-kind leather string drums made by internationally renowned artist Garry Greenwood \n10am – Afro-Cuban Dance workshop with Pablo Salas \n11:30am – Samba band performance and Samba drum and dance workshop \n12:30pm – Christchurch Afro-Cuban ensemble performance with Doug Brush \n1:15pm – African drum and dance workshop with Koffie Fugah\, from Ghana.
