SUMMARY:Professional Development in Music and Movement
DESCRIPTION:Come and explore how to facilitate singing\, storytelling\, poetry\, movement and playing instruments in an integrated way into your classroom programmes. \nIn the April school holidays\, ONZA (Orff New Zealand Aotearoa) is offering teacher training 6-day courses in music and movement. This course is aimed at specialist and generalist teachers working in early childhood\, primary\, intermediate\, and lower secondary school and community settings. \nThese courses are a hands-on\, experiential\, and gentle introduction to the practices and principles of the Orff approach. Participants in this course can achieve ONZA certification at Level 1. Level 2 is also being offered for those who have completed level 1. \nThe Orff approach is characterised by the integration of speech\, movement\, and music with a focus on improvisation. Because of its integrated nature\, it works effectively alongside curriculum areas and boosts inquiry learning and gives opportunity to develop creativity in both the teacher and student. \n\nLevel 1 and 2 courses 20-25th April\nVenue:  Auckland University\, Epsom Campus\, Auckland.\nCost:  Members: $600   Non-members: $640 Students: $400 (Early bird fees before April 2nd\n\nComments from participants\n“The course was incredibly fun\, hands-on\, and it really allowed for equal participation and collaboration. I laughed\, and I cried;  \nI was inspired and challenged. It is fair to say \nthat the course was life-changing for me both personally and professionally.” \n“Many thanks for the Orff time! It was wonderful and let me learn to appreciate the beauty of collaboration and cultural diversity.” \n…” the Orff approach offers an alternative culture of learning\, where artistry is invited\, contributions are celebrated\, fun is had\, and students are intrinsically rewarded through supported achievement and musically enriching collaboration”. \nFunding and support in your school\nONZA (Orff New Zealand Aotearoa) has won funding by the Networks of Expertise to provide support to selected schools and early childhood centres to assist in the development of their music programmes. This comes in the form of a fully paid course to 1 or 2 teachers and assistance through mentoring by an experienced Orff educator or team\, in the development of their music programmes at their school. This can be customised to meet the needs of the school and teacher\, and the support will occur within an agreed-upon timeframe. Please contact us if you and your school are interested in the mentoring programme. \nFor all enquires contact Jo at jocharman@xtra.co.nz \nTo find out more\, or register go to http://onza.nz/professional-learning-2/
