DESCRIPTION:Just a reminder the 2020/2021 National Concerto Competition Preliminaries is beginning on Tuesday 8th December at 10.30 a.m. and going through to 1.00 p.m. on Wednesday 9th December. \nSemi-Final is Wednesday 9th December at 7.30 p.m. \nVenue is The Piano\, 156 Armagh Street\, Christchurch \nPlease see link below for details: \nConcerto Update – Reminder – December 2020 \n  \n2020/2021 National Concerto Competition FINAL\nThe Final is being held on Saturday 6th March 2021 at the James Hay Theatre\, Christchurch Town Hall. The chosen 3 finalists will play their Concertos accompanied by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kenneth Young. Ticketing and further information will be available from 25th January 2021.

Apply here. \nPiano Category:  \nCompetition Date: January 21 – 23\, 2021\nCompetition Venue: Adam Concert Room\, New Zealand School of Music\, Wellington \n​ \nViolin Category:  \nCompetition Date: January 28 – 31\, 2021\nCompetition Venue: TBC\, Christchurch \n​ \nDescription of Groups – age on 01 Jan 2021\nA: Age: 7 – 8           Max. 5 minutes\nB: Age: 9 – 10         Max. 8 minutes\nC: Age: 11 – 13        Max. 10 minutes\nD: Age: 14 – 18       Max. 12 minutes \n​ \nPrizes:\n•    1st prize trophy and $50 for A and B\n•    1st prize trophy\, and $100 for C and D\n•    1st prize winners of each group will be invited to perform at the gala concert\n•    Each group will have two 2nd prizes with medals\, three 3rd prizes with medals\, and five commendable prizes with certificates\n•    Each group will have one prize with certificate and $50 for The Best Performance of a Chinese Work\, and one prize with certificate and $50 for The Best Performance of a New Zealand Work\n•    In addition\, all 1st prizes will be supported by one of the arts organisations in New Zealand\, details will be announced later \n•    The actual number of prizes will be determined by the adjudicators depending on the number of applicants \n​ \nRepertoire Requirement:\n•    Free choice of repertoire\n•    A maximum of 3 pieces\n•    Choice of repertoire is at the discretion of the competitors (however\, we encourage students to perform both New Zealand and Chinese works)\n•    Once submitted\, the repertoire cannot be changed \n​ \nAdjudicators:\n•    Two to three adjudicators per group\n•    Details of the adjudicators will be announced later \n​ \nOther Information:\n•    Applications will be closed on the 11th of December 2020 \n•    The order of performers will be in alphabetical order by surname\n•    The decision of the adjudicators is final\n•    The organisers reserve the right to make any changes to the event if necessary\n•    Rights to any competition performance\, whether broadcast\, televised or recorded\, belong to the competition\, and no fee is payable for any transmissions\, recordings or broadcasts of them\n•    The organisers will not accept any responsibility for any accident\, loss or injury\, which may occur to any competitor or to his/her property whether arising out of negligence or otherwise at any time in relation to the competition.\n•    In the event of fewer than 5 entries being received for the age group\, the organisers reserve the right to cancel the competition for that group and change the format to non-competitive performance

DESCRIPTION:LIVE AND IN PERSON! \nCoordinated by Rodger Fox and Dave Lisik. \nThe New Zealand National Jazz Workshops bring New Zealand’s enthusiastic jazz students together with NZ’s best jazz musicians and educators\, working on instrumental techniques\, improvisation\, ensemble skills\, jazz theory\, listening and performances. Students 19 and under with at least one year of experience on an instrument are encouraged to attend.
