DESCRIPTION:MENZA Taranaki PD – Effective Music Technology \nThursday 15th March 2018\, 9:30am – 3:30pm\n Venue – New Plymouth Girls High School – Scotlands Hostel Meeting Room\n 60 Northgate\, Strandon\, New Plymouth 4312\n Morning and Afternoon Tea Provided\n BYO Lunch \nREGISTER HERE \nThis PD day is designed to support intermediate\, secondary and itinerant teachers in delivering the Music Curriculum\, with a particular focus on Music Technology and digital integration. While the day will not specifically focus on primary teaching\, educators from this sector are also welcome as many of the tools are transferable. There is flexibly within the day to specifically address questions that attendees have\, including trouble shooting your problems. You are encouraged to bring your laptop/devices. \nMartin Emo\, will the be the facilitator for the day. He is currently HOD Performing Arts at Waimea College\, TKI Musicnet Community Facilitator\, NZQA Exam/digital consultant NZQA\, EDnet Australaisan Music Technology Mentor. Martin is currently completing a Masters in E-Learning looking at digital exams and coding. For the last 6 years\, he has taught a multi-level Music Technology and Performing Arts full-year subject. He also has worked in Digital Technology sales\, and performs live electronic music. \nOutline\n9:30-10am – Introductions\, overview\, goals.\n10-12 – Session One. Music Technology integration. (Morning Tea Included)\n12-12:30 – Lunch\n12:30-2pm – Session Two. Hands on Music Technology training\n2:00-2:15 – Afternoon tea\n2:15 3:30pm – Session Three. Other specific items that have arisen during the day. And also NCEA questions. For example songwriting\, Performing Arts Technology Standards courses/integration\, discussion of moderation.

DESCRIPTION:Music Education day in the Bay Of Plenty!!!\nSuitable for teachers\, music teachers\, itinerant teachers.\nParticularly for Primary educators / ECE / Early High School. \nThis workshop will offer a day of music-making\, involving the voice\, movement and classroom instruments which acknowledges the bi-cultural identity of Aotearoa\, New Zealand. Participants will take away new skills\, new understandings\, some exciting new material\, and have the confidence to make theirs a more musical classroom. \nPresenters\nDr. Millie Locke\nwill demonstrate approaches fully applicable in the modern classroom to enhance music and literacy with young children. Using a thematic approach she will use story to fully engage every child\, and encourage them to use their unique voice in artistic and holistic learning experiences. Millie explored teaching as artistry in her Masters thesis and will inspire musicians and teachers alike in their craft. \nMaria Kappa\nhas many years’ experience in music education\, is Kodaly trained and has recently developed an interest in the Orff approach. Maria has merged her understandings of Kodaly\, Orff and Te Reo Māori to create a collection of musical experiences and songs that are enjoyable and transferrable to the classroom context. \nJeremy Hantler\nis a percussion specialist and will share ways to make marimbas and xylophones come alive in your teaching. It is time to pull the barred instruments out of storage in your school and see the world of joy these can unlock in your students.
