A preconcert study guide for schools ensures greater enjoyment for students both before and after their concert experience. \nIn 2018 Kiwi Kapers includes The Auckland Dance Project performance. \n\nThursday 6 September\, Auckland Town Hall\n11.30am & 1pm\nMonday 10 September\, Vodafone Events Centre\n11.30am & 1pm\n\nConcerts are free for APOPS schools or $6 per students.  Accompanying adults are free at a ratio of 1adult:10students.  If your school trip policy requires a different ratio\, please contact us on apoconnecting@apo.co.nz

DESCRIPTION:A Networks of Expertise Event \nMENZA and ONZA present: \nA Taste of Orff – Sing Move Play\nA PLD opportunity for Primary teachers \n9:30am – 3:30pm Saturday 8 September\nHavelock North Intermediate\, Nimon St\, Havelock North\nMorning tea and lunch provided \n  \nRegister here today. \nCome and learn how to use language and speech as a starting point for singing\, movement activities\, rhythm games\, and ideas for musical play that enable children to discover the many elements of music in natural and creative ways. \nWith a focus on primary and intermediate school aged children Dr Millie Locke and Priya Gain will engage participants with some of the key principles of the Orff approach to music and movement education. Their focus will be on working with children in their primary school years and they will offer material for anyone who wants to work musically with children including school teachers\, parents\, community music groups\, and private music teachers. \nFees:\n$20 for current MENZA / ONZA / IRMT members\n$60 for non-members\nStudents may attend free of charge! \nAbout the presenters: \n\nDr Millie Locke\nMillie is an experienced practitioner and foundation president of ONZA. She coordinates certificated (levels) courses and was largely responsible for establishing and maintaining ONZA’s collaborative relationship with the University of Waikato from 2009 until 2016. She attended AOSA Orff levels courses at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester New York in 1996 and 1997. In 2016 she graduated with a PhD where she investigated the way the Orff approach is applied in a range of New Zealand schools and its impact of teachers who were exposed to its influence. \n\nPriya Gain\nPriya Gain Priya teaches at Eastern Hutt School as music/movement specialist across the whole school and is currently completing a Masters of Education specialising in music and arts education at the University of Waikato. She has completed ONZA certificated training up to Level 4 in the Aotearoa/New Zealand context and has played a key role facilitating workshops in the Orff approach in the Wellington region. Priya is committed to the development of local teaching resources which express the bicultural identify of this country. The School of Education at Victoria University regularly draws on Priya to teach music modules in the primary learning programme.
