SUMMARY:Student Jazz Workshops
DESCRIPTION:The New Zealand Jazz Foundation provides exceptional musical experiences to young jazz musicians in New Zealand. The National Jazz Workshops bring New Zealand’s enthusiastic jazz students together with top jazz musicians and educators\, working on instrument techniques\, improvisation\, theory\, listening and ensemble performances. \nStudents 19 and under with at least one year of experience on an instrument\, are eligible.  \nDirectors: Rodger Fox and Dr. David Lisik \nThe NZ Jazz Workshops will be held at the New Zealand School of Music\, Victoria University of Wellington. \nACCOMMODATION: students will be responsible for their own accommodation. \nMEALS: Lunch for the five days will be available for purchase at several locations on campus. \nVisit “Register” at  to register online. DESCRIPTION:On Sunday the 15th of December 2019\, the third Brass Day Out is here! \nAt the centre of this fantastic day will be Christchurch Symphonic Brass performing a fantastic programme of Christmas classics and beautiful songs arranged for brass. \nWe invite any student who is interested in being part of the student chamber groups to please read the information below. \nThis year\, the rehearsals and concert will be at held at the brand new CSO Centre within the Christchurch Town Hall complex. The concert will begin at 3pm and will include performances by student brass groups of pieces prepared earlier in the day supported by players from Christchurch Symphonic Brass. The concert will conclude with a combined item with students joining in with Christchurch Symphonic Brass. \nEnrolments are now open for any student currently in Year 5 up to University Students (age limit of 21) by submitting the form below. Registration closes at 5pm on Thursday 31 October. \nhttps://forms.gle/6ttatoaTJHX7k89D8 \n– Each student will be placed in a brass group appropriate to their age and level.\n– We recommend participants be at least Grade 3 level to get the most benefit from the day.\n– They will rehearse and perform on the Sunday (details below).\n– The rehearsal will involve coaching from members of Christchurch Symphonic Brass.\n– Music will be sent out via PDF following registration closing at 5pm on Thursday 31 October. \nThe music will need to be prepared by each student before the rehearsal day to ensure the effectiveness of the rehearsal session. \nBefore completing the registration\, please check that you are available at the following times. SUMMARY:Brass in Class
DESCRIPTION:The Auckland Bands Association again are organising a holiday workshop day with one of the best brass players in New Zealand – David Bremner. \nDavid is the Director of Education for the Brass Bands Association of NZ (BBANZ) and conducts the current champion band of New Zealand – Wellington Brass. He has many accomplishments in the music world as a recording artist\, performer and conductor. BBANZ provide his services to brass bands and the wider music community for no or low cost \nWe invite all brass and percussion players of all ages and those learning for at least one year to join an all comers band for a day workshop and seminar where David will share his experiences and stories in a very entertaining way\, along with quizzes and games. Adults also join in and last year some travelled from Hamilton to hear David. \nDATE:    Thursday 19 December 2019 \nTIME:    8.30am registrations starts 9.00 am – short concert at 2.30 pm finishes 3.00 pm \nPLACE:  North Shore Brass band rooms at 13A Taharoto Road  – Taharoto Park Takapuna (plenty of parking) 2 minutes from Northcote off ramp \nBRING: Your instrument /sticks/accessories and a bottle of water \nCOST:    Amazingly low cost of $20 – this includes lunch and refreshments – pay in cash on the day \nSUPERVISION: There will be several music teachers in the band along with other adults who teach students throughout Auckland \nPERCUSSION: We will have a percussion tutor there on the day \nREGISTRATION: Please email Peter Whyte on the email : Aucklandbandsassocation@gmail.com so we know numbers before hand \nWe look forward to giving students and adults a real high before the holidays so they are motivated to continue on their musical journey in 2020. \nBrass In Class Poster 2019
