SUMMARY:Lower Hutt - Sharing the joy of music with kids- teachers' & carers' workshop
DESCRIPTION:Because Arohanui Strings passionately believe that all children deserve the opportunity to participate in music-making every day\, we are offering a FREE teacher workshop this term. The object is to help all teachers and caregivers enjoy simple music-making with their tamariki\, using minimal props and technology. Our workshop will be based on this book and how to use it in the classroom for joyful movement\, as well as building literacy and numeracy through music. Check it out here: www.alphabetsongbook.nz Books will be available for sale on the day. \nWhere: Kawakawa room\, Stokes Valley Community Hub\, Lower Hutt\nWho: all teachers\, teacher aides\, and caregivers of junior primary school (approx up to age 8)\, especially those who feel they “can’t sing”. \n \nArohanui Strings-Sistema Hutt Valley is sponsoring a unique PD event for teachers and caregivers of young children. We have been teaching music in the Hutt Valley for nine years\, providing quality youth orchestra classes with instruments provided\, all free of charge to children age 6 and up. SUMMARY:IRMT Wellington - From the Cradle to the Studio
DESCRIPTION:The Wellington Branch of the Institute of Registered Music Teachers invites you to come along to a seminar given by Helen Willberg\, who for many years has been involved in research into and promotion of early childhood music education in NZ. \nDuring the seminar you will be invited to explore such questions as: how did our own passion for music originate? How can we ensure that this passion and interest is passed on to the next generation? How can we be involved with ensuring that all young children are being given the right kind of exposure to good music? \nThe seminar will be of great interest and highly relevant\, not just to those involved with early childhood music education\, but to instrumental teachers working with students of all ages and stages. So if you’re looking for ideas to help strengthen your students’ understanding of rhythm\, pitch and other vital elements\, then this will be the place to be! \nHelen Willberg Seminar Flyer

SUMMARY:Kerikeri - Exploring Music with Children (CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19)
DESCRIPTION:Come and explore how music can be integrated into the everyday classroom using the multi-sensory Orff approach that benefits our children. Starting with a simple story or Ukulele song we will explore different ways in which we can use language to create music and movement. Enjoy this hands on approach to music and the arts. This will be useful for early childhood teachers and for teachers of the early years in primary school. Some of the ideas will also be adaptable for middle and upper primary school. Workshop facilitators are Maria Croucher and Christoph Maubach.\n\nThe workshop coincides with Kerikeri 200\, which will be celebrated on the same weekend in Kerikeri.\n\nYou can register here.
