This PD day is designed to support Intermediate and Secondary teachers in delivering the Music Curriculum, with a particular focus on Music Technology and digital integration. There is flexibly within the day to specifically address questions that attendees have, including trouble shooting your problems. You are encouraged to bring your laptop/devices.  Follow up visits are also proposed to support local schools free of charge on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 August.  Please indicate on the form whether you would like a visit.

Phil Pegler, will be the facilitator for the day. He is currently NZ Manager for Music EDnet, and previously HOD Performing Arts NaeNae College. He has a Masters in Education: MIDI composition systems, recently completed a PG Cert. (Digital and Collaborative Learning) and is passionate about increasing student engagement & making life easier for teachers.  He taught Media, Film and Sound, including Production Sound Recording (National Cert), alongside Music and has been known to moonlight as DJ, Sound Engineer/Producer and Production Manager.  He is on the Music Education New Zealand Aotearoa (MENZA) Board.

Martin Emo is currently HOD Performing Arts at Waimea College, TKI Musicnet Community Facilitator, NZQA Exam/digital consultant NZQA, EDnet Australaisan Music Technology Mentor. Martin is currently completing a Masters in ELearning looking at digital exams and coding. For the last 6 years, he has taught a multilevel Music Technology and Performing Arts full year subject. He also has worked in Digital Technology sales, and performs live electronic music.

It is proposed that an on-line forum for discussing issues and sharing resources be set up to encourage ongoing support and interaction.  A key goal is that this micro – community will be driven by peer-to-peer interactions and become self-sustaining over time.

9:30am – 10am Introductions, overview, goals.
10am -12pm Session One. Music Technology integration. (Morning Tea Included)
12pm -12:30pm Lunch
12:30pm – 2pm Session Two. Hands on Music Technology training
2pm – 3:30pm Session Three. Other specific items that have arisen during the day. For example songwriting, Performing Arts Technology Standards courses/integration.
