Musicnet Summary to 1 April 2019

Kia ora tātou

Over the weekend I took part in the Cubaduapa festival in WLG. A highlight was a Trumpet fanfare with 56 trumpets, ranging from adults down to some 7 year olds. We performed in a number of venues including the Opera House stage over the space of 30mins, walking from place to place. With music distributed beforehand, only 1 run through, and the music taped to the bells of our trumpets, we sounded quite good (and loud!). It reminded me of the impact of a well-written piece of music, and also what is actually achievable in a short period of time.

When was the last time you got students to quickly learn and then perform something?
