This National Music Education Wānanga will be held at Te Kauri Marae in Huntly.
Kaupapa: The purpose of this wānanga is to further develop, strengthen and embed Matauranga Māori and understanding – the who, when, why, how to implement Te Ao Māori aspects into education, to build cultural competencies, composition and Te Tiriti Alignment.
Facilitators: Kelly Kahukiwa – alignment with Te Tiriti, Horomona Horo – Taonga Puoro & embedding the principles of Te Ao Māori and tikanga, learning concepts of Tika, Kawa & Pono (Ihi, Wehi, Wana), Wiremu Sarich – traditional Māori games, whanaungatanga activities, play in terms of brain development and to discern classroom energies.
This is fully funded if you are a MENZA member, or $50 for non-MENZA members (this includes membership). Please bring a koha (cash in envelope) for the Pōwhiri at 5pm at Te Kauri Marae, Taupiri. Please pay the $50 to MENZA 38-9011-0410882-00 if you are not a member or ask for an invoice via admin@menza.co.nz.
