Chinese culture and songs in Primary School Music with Edith Poon-Lai

This workshop explores traditional and modern Chinese songs with the focus on enriching the musical experience of your students with appropriate vocal techniques, affirming the culture of your Chinese students, or introducing Chinese culture to your Music class. No experience of Chinese learning is required. Youtube links and teaching notes of the songs and games will be provided. Each Chinese song will be analysed and demonstrated in a musical way. Participants can directly apply their learning into their programme.
Edith teaches Chinese and Performing Arts to 4-11 year olds at Kristin School, Auckland. She is trained in Music Education (M Ed) and teaching Chinese to students speaking other languages (Sp Cert in Chi Tchg) and has taught in New Zealand for 20 years.
