Workshop descriptions

Playful Music Making in Early Childhood – with Celia Stewart
This workshop will explore a wide range of practical ideas that teachers can use immediately in their centres with young children. Music has the power to impact on every area of children’s development and the activities shared can underpin all areas of the curriculum. Most importantly the workshop will demonstrate how children can behave as musicians as they sing, play, move, listen and create in musical ways.

Sing, Play, Move in the Classroom  – with Celia Stewart
The most important thing that children learn in a music session is music. Musicians listen, sing, play, move and create and this workshop will introduce simple activities that will support teachers in implementing an effective music programme. It will integrate the philosophies of both the Orff Schulwerk  and Kodaly approaches to music education in a fun and practical way.

Sibelius Workshop  – with Helen Beech
Sibelius know how from shortcuts and set up to time saving plugins. We will also cover more advanced Sibelius features and functions if warranted. All material will be available as PDF’s and Sibelius Files. Specific topics covered according to attendees needs, but can include Lyrics, Guitar TAB, Score reductions, Percussion, Voices, Versions, Worksheets, Mac and windows tips.

Free Online Music Resources – with Helen Beech
An overview of free online software to help you create resources and inspire and engage your students.  Music creation, exploration and resources. Theory and games  iPad, tablet PC and Mac.  A PDF with all links will be supplied.

African Drumming and Using Percussion in the Classroom with Rinie Coppelmans
During the workshop I will share my group drumming experience based on working within different educational settings. We will explore different approaches and activities combined with tips and tricks to implement or test out in your situation. The workshop will be very interactive and hopefully a lot of fun.
