MENZA Music Workshop for ECE Teachers – Invercargill

Music Matters in Early Childhood – A Workshop with Celia Stewart
Where:
SIT Downtown Campus, Room 211, 25 Don St, Invercargill
When: Sunday 31 July 11:00am – 2:30pm
Cost: $40 for MENZA members, $50 for non-MENZA members

This workshop will explore practical ideas to use in early childhood and will demonstrate how music can impact on every area of children’s development. We will chant, sing, move, play, and listen using a range of props and equipment in a workshop that will send you away with ideas you can incorporate immediately into your programmes.

Celia Stewart has been involved in music education all her life as a primary teacher, flute & recorder teacher, Lecturer in ECE, Primary Music Adviser & Education manager for the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, before taking up her current role as Music Director of the Christchurch School of Music. She also works as a music specialist in primary schools and is a regular presenter of workshops in ECE & primary music throughout NZ through her music education consultancy, Tune Into Music. In 2013 she completed a Masters in Education through the University of Waikato specialising in the Orff Schulwerk approach to music education.

This event is organised by MENZA (Music Education New Zealand Aotearoa) and SME (Southland Music Education).
