The mission of the Music in Schools and Teacher Education Commission (MISTEC) is to promote the development of research and innovations in theory and practice in the fields of music teaching in schools and teacher education. The Commission serves to support, develop and maintain international collaboration, coalitions and strategic alliances and exchange of pedagogical resources, innovative teaching approaches and experiences among professionals and institutions from around the world. The aim of the MISTEC Pre-Conference seminar is to engage participants, presenters, and commissioners in enriching dialogues and in hands-on experiences related to school music teaching and learning and to music teacher education by exploring current best practices and research.
The ISME Music In Schools and Teacher Education Commission (MISTEC) Pre-Conference Seminar 2020 encourages submissions focused around the theme of Broadening Access To And Engagement With Music Education. This theme supports the main ISME conference theme of Visions of Equity and Diversity. Accepted workshop and paper presentations from around the world will highlight ways to extend current theoretical and educational thinking, together with exchanging innovative practical approaches for music education and teacher education. The collaboration fostered through this intimate, dialogic seminar enables the shared development of educational policies and practices geared towards ensuring quality music education for all children.
