About this course

Learn at your chosen pace

The 5 course modules will be released once per week starting mid-Jan 2021. Work alongside other course members as each module is released OR work at your own pace and take your time.

There is no specific deadline for the course: you will have access to all of the materials for as long as you have an active membership to the Midnight Music Community!

Step-by-step instructions

Beginner and intermediate video creators are all welcome in this course.

Each course module focusses on a practical project and instructions will show you how to create each video step-by-step.

You can ask questions and connect with other course participants in our forums. No question is ever “too silly”!

Course members will also be invited to share their video projects with one another. It’s optional but super useful if you’d like a little inspiration, or if you’d like some feedback on your own creations.

Each module walks you through a video project via bite-sized, binge-able tutorials. You’ll learn the basics of creating your own video projects,

plus a whole range of ninja tricks to help you work smarter and faster.

Module 3 (from 1 Feb 2021):

How to make a video montage or concert showcase

Creative ideas for end-of-year or showcase videos
Introduction to De Vinci Resolve software
How to put together a montage using images and video
How to create a virtual concert-style compilation video

Module 4: (from 8 Feb 2021)

How to make playalong videos (advanced) and how to use a green screen

Create your own advanced play-alongs with animation, green screen effects and picture-in-picture
How to find or create notation, background images, chords, clipart
How to set up a green screen on a budget (for less than $10!) and place yourself in front of different backgrounds

How to create a picture-in-picture effect

Module 5 (from 15 Feb 2021):

How to create a virtual choir or band or multitrack a cappella video

In this module we’ll tackle everyone’s favourite topic and create a (small) virtual ensemble video
Learn the workflow and tips for synchronising multiple videos which can be scaled up for larger projects
Discover why careful preparation and clear directions for your performers are the key!
Tips for basic audio editing, placing videos in a grid layout and what to do if your computer is struggling (!)
