A day of orchestral rehearsal and performance led by arranger and conductor, Richard Oswin, for primary and intermediate students who can read music and play an instrument.
This is an ideal opportunity for students who practice mostly on their own to join other students and make music in one big ensemble. The technical difficulty of the music is suitable for students in their second or third year of practice and while it is an orchestra, there are kit, hand percussion, guitar, bass, keyboard, xylophone and recorder parts. Students can work on their parts with instrumental tutors leading up to the day, nearly prepared to play up to 6 pieces. Schools might use the repertoire to play in their own ensemble, but this is not essential.
The day begins with a massed rehearsal, followed by sectionals and finishes with a concert of the 6 pieces. Repertoire ranges from the Baroque to songs from musicals and pop/rock music.
