Welcome to Music Education Otago – MEO
The MEO committee meets once or twice a term, either in person or on Zoom.
Our major event for the last 12 years has been the Dunedin Ukulele Kids’ Jam, which has grown from 400 participants in 2010 to over 1000 in 2019 (in collaboration with the NZ Ukulele Trust Kiwileles programme).
We also run a Marimba Festival (in collaboration with ONZA in 2020).
We run workshops for teachers, facilitated by local presenters and guest presenters from around Aotearoa. Past workshops have covered a range of areas including early childhood music, ukulele, percussion, marimba, songwriting, waiata, digital music and how to run a kapa haka rōpū.
The MEO executive committee for 2022/23 are:
- Ruth Buchanan – Chair
- Dave Wadell – Treasurer
- Ali Caldwell – Secretary
- Joy Chilcott – Minutes Secretary
- Anna Bowen
- Andrea Robertson
- Kris McLennan
