A busy week for those with senior secondary students as the countdown to the last lessons begins. For primary and intermediate teachers, they seem to welcome the change of seasons after Labour Day to enable more outside activities to take place.

This week I’m off to Wellington for a conference for University-based music researchers from Australia and New Zealand. The people who attend ANZARME (Australian and NZ association for research in music education), are generally those who teach music degrees and teacher training programs. Whilst at times it can be relatively high level and distant from the classroom, it’s presentations that present on research undertaken with teachers that I’m most looking forward to.

On Monday the 4th, we’ll have the announcement of the winner of the Vodafone Music Teacher of the Year. All the best to the three finalists.
