Musicnet summary to 18th Sept 2020

One week to go! That’s all I can say. 

The NZ Music commission made a great resource of a number of terms and phrases for using te reo in the music class room. Can’t wait to see them up around classrooms around the country. 

A resource for Chinese Language week was made. If you have other ideas about resources to make, there is funding available through the MENZA NeX grant

General (for all Music Levels)

Feedback on NZWinds branded instruments was shared. 

Adam Neely shared this video which has been doing the rounds amongst music educators around the world. It’s looking at Music Theory, Eurocentrism and white supremacy in music education. 

A free licence for MusoPipe, a NZ-developed software which slows down audio, was shared. 

 

Secondary 

Sean started a thread on the new NCEA standards. Do you have an opinion on what the 2+2 standard should look like? 

Can a student collaborate with others outside of school for a composition/songwriting standard?

The National Concerto Competition closes on 9th October.
