Kia ora tātou

Every two years the MENZA conference is held and it is a chance to spend 3days deeply thinking about music education, and making connections with others around the country. Last time it was in Christchurch and this October 11-13th we’ll be heading to Tauranga. The committee is deep into planning and preparation and they’re looking for feedback on what you’d like from the conference. This includes  what/who you might like as workshops and presenters. This could be anything. Take 2mins to fill out this google survey about it.

Also, if you have something you would like to possibly offer as a workshop session, they want to hear from you. The planning committee will then take responses and select according to demand and availability.

“Gig Starters” is a new series of seminars by the NZ Music Commission for young people about putting on live gigs. There is a seminar, a workshop, a setup for the gig and then an all-ages gig at 7pm. Starting in main centres Hamilton, AKL, Palmerston North, WLG, CHCH and Dunedin. It reminds me of the vibrant all-ages gigs that used to occur in the 1990s where international Drum and Bass/Electronica acts would first perform to all-ages, then do their normal R18 show.
