Christchurch Youth Jazz Orchestra auditions

The Christchurch Big Band Festival in partnership with Ara Music Arts and Lana Law are again putting together the Christchurch Youth Jazz Orchestra (CYJO) made up of the best young performers in Ōtautahi. Here’s an opportunity to play in an auditioned ensemble culminating in some amazing performances as part of the Christchurch Big Band Festival. Music Director Lana Law, along with a fantastic team of tutors will take these students on a band camp at Hanmer Springs with some inspiring and amazing charts. The camp will culminate in a lunchtime performance on the Hanmer Green. After one further rehearsal the band will perform as part of the opening gala performance at The Piano and as part of the Christchurch Big Band Festival picnic. There will be two further performances in November and December. There may also be an opportunity to undertake a recording with the support of Ara, details to be confirmed.
