Orff Schulwerk offers a holistic approach to music education that ensures music is accessible to all. It integrates singing, speech activities, movement, folk dance and the playing of percussion instruments to encourage active music making. Participants will take part in practical activities that they can take immediately back to their classrooms.
Presenters are Kerri Fitzgerald and Celia Stewart
Here’s what some of the participants in our Dunedin workshop had to say:
Thank you so much for the wonderful workshop on Saturday. It was incredibly fun and inspiring from start to finish. I learnt heaps of helpful techniques and games for bringing music and movement into my teaching, and I can’t wait to introduce them to my children 🙂 Thank you for the very useful notes that accompanied the workshop, and also for the extra song and poem ideas you emailed. I loved the music soundtracks that accompanied the activities as well. My favourite activities were the mirroring and shadowing activities involved in the Bubble Game, and the Poem with all of it’s different layers; speech, movement, ostinati and body percussion. This course has really given me the confidence to branch out and try new things in my music classes and the desire to learn more about the Orff approach. Thank you so much!
I loved the workshop and am looking forward to using lots of your ideas with my kids this week! I loved working with the poem to learn and practise concepts of music, while having fun, and the dance/drama ideas.
One participant even wrote a poem!
